OK, so we just played a fundraiser for the Rick Hansen Foundation, an organization that works to raise awareness about and promote research into Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). Despite lots of local press, the people of Peterborough didn't turn out in the charity-minded hordes we expected.
But I'm not writing this blog entry to complain.
Wait, yes I am.
Concert-goers of Peterborough and elsewhere, I know what it's like to only have $5. I know how excruciating the choice between paying cover at a show and buying one more pint can be. I know how powerful and beautiful that one more pint is.
But I also know, or at least I can make an educated guess, that suffering from SCI (Spinal Cord Injury, remember? Stay with me here) probably sucks a lot. So to those that don't make it a habit of investing in charitable causes - and I'm not judging you here, you selfish bags of meat - please reconsider. The world needs your $5, and you have certainly had enough to drink already.
By the way, the picture of the kitten has nothing to do with any of this. But if you mouse over it, it says "Meow meow, I wuv you!". Isn't that nice?
Now stop looking at kittens and go confront the real world. Support the charity of your choice, or our choice. Either way.
This has been a public service announcement from The Burning Hell.
